Sustainable Saturdays Program

Sustainable Saturdays

Green Generations offers FREE 2-hour workshops from 10am to 12pm in St. Mary’s Park in the South Bronx. This program was created with support from Partnerships for Parks, a joint program of NYC Parks and City Parks Foundation.

Our workshops are fun, science-focused, engaging, and they are designed by NYC teachers and environmental experts.

Our goal is to help children and parents celebrate, cultivate, reconnect with and fall in love with nature within the community.

Each workshop has an eco-friendly theme and begins with a mindful meditation, yoga sequence, and a FREE HEALTHY SNACK, followed by our workshop theme of the day.

We happily invite PARENTS to participate in our workshops!

Saturday, May 30th: Bird Watching & Making Birdhouses

Grab your binoculars and look to the skies!  New York City is home to many bird species and we will learn about which ones have made their homes in St. Mary’s Park.  We will also make our own birdhouses to decorate and take home.

We will take a walk through St. Mary’s Park and identify urban plants. Then, we will plant our own personal gardens to take home.

We will explore the intricate world of insects and study their important role in the urban environment.
