What We Do

Our Plan

Green Generations Inc. began offering programs in March 2012 and will continue onwards consisting of three successive phases. Each phase will be strategically implemented based on our mission goals, market analysis, and funding potential.

Phase 1
Implementation of Green Generations as an education nonprofit in New York City and development of our foundational core.
Phase 2
Expansion of Green Generations’s after-school and in-school programs to all boroughs of New York City.

Green Generations has been created in response to following observations:

Our Educational Systems

Today most of our schools are not addressing the real needs of our children. Children of all ages deserve schools that teach them how to become critical and creative thinkers using a meaningful approach that promotes a genuine love of learning. The constant demand for tougher standards and endless assessments is unexciting, uninspiring, and unimaginative. Over-testing has taken an obvious toll on our children, parents, and teachers.

This prosaic approach to learning where much of a child’s school day is concerned with meeting academic standards leaves little time to teach children essential life skills. Our children deserve the nurturing guidance to learn how to interpret their emotions, become self-confident, assertive, and develop the ability to have healthy relationships with others. These are necessary qualities for a successful life.
Every child deserves a loving and meaningful education. The following trends are real concerns that show that we still have a lot of work to do:

At Green Generations the foundation of our teaching method for all of our workshops is centered on teaching life skills.
Our team receives specialized training to give children, parents, and educators every opportunity they need to develop his or her talents and potential.

Our Social Systems

Today there is strong evidence indicating a breakdown in community, family, and extended family structures. Oftentimes neighbors do not know one another as a result of stressful lifestyles, especially in urban environments. Additionally, many children are growing up in single-parent homes where parents are commonly burdened with the realities of working two or more jobs to make ends meet. Another evident trend shows that parents are working hours that are not convenient for healthy parenting.

On a worldwide spectrum, disparities are emerging on all fronts. We see people distrusting one another, unfair economic systems, people becoming alarmingly desensitized and overwhelmed by increasing violent images and experiences, and racism and gender inequalities still thriving.

Part of what makes us human is our humaneness, our ability to feel compassion, love, and generosity towards one another and all living things. Our community is our extended family and together we can forge a brighter, kinder, and safer future.

Our Planet and the Environment

Our world is changing and growing at an exponential rate as a result of our human impact. Almost on a daily basis, we receive reports about ecological disasters, pandemics, and news about growing lists of endangered species due to our human behaviors. It’s real, it’s sad, and it’s scary, but we have the intelligence, resources, and innovation to make ethical choices to develop our societies in harmony with the planet.

For children to grow up with a genuine love and respect for nature, they need to have daily contact with her, including children living in urban environments. Children can also develop compassion and empathy for one another and all living things through daily contact with animals. Pets and farm animals provide a bridge that strengthens loving bonds between humans and nature.

Education is the key to transforming consciousness. It is essential that we are proactive role models for children and that we empower children with knowledge and experience so they are contributing team players in society—for today and future generations.

Climate change

We are using nearly 30% more natural resources than the Earth can replenish and our activities are drastically changing the planet’s climate.

Animal extinction

1 in 4 of the world’s mammals, one in eight birds, one in five sharks, one in four coniferous trees, and one in three amphibians are now threatened with extinction in the near future.

Contact with animals

Experiments have shown that petting an animal lowers a human’s blood pressure and causes both human and animal to release a “feel good” bonding hormone called oxytocin.

Our team at Green Generations is passionate about the planet. We are dedicated to the ethos of sustainable development and innovative inner-city renewal.
Our team often attends workshops and conferences to stay current on the latest news about the environment and the newest innovative green practices in existence today.
We are ecologically conscious in all of the materials we use, our habits, and our activities. We always strive for a low to zero carbon footprint.

Our Health and Agricultural Systems

Today, more than ever before in human history, there is an enormous discord between extreme abundance and poverty when it comes to food. Every year millions of people die from starvation, while 64% of people in the U.S. (48% in Europe) are overweight. Harmful economic systems, unfair food distribution procedures, and climate change are just some of the contributing factors to this reality.

The world produces enough food to feed everyone. World agriculture produces 17 percent more calories per person today than it did 30 years ago, despite a 70 percent population increase. This is enough to provide everyone in the world with at least 2,720 kilocalories (kcal) per person per day (Source: fao.org, 2002). The principal problem is that many people in the world do not have sufficient land to grow, or income to purchase, enough food.

Another disturbing trend, especially seen on a national level, is that today’s youth are considered the most inactive generation in history caused in part by reductions in school physical education programs and unavailable or unsafe community recreational facilities. Inactivity combined with poor dietary habits have directly contributed to 9 million children and teens ages 6 -19 being overweight or obese.

Processed and fast foods have become the cheapest and most convenient avenues for eating and they are directly impacting our health. Many studies indicate a high ratio of fast food restaurants in low-income communities. These kinds of foods are directly linked to many of the serious health issues afflicting our communities like obesity, cancers, strokes, diabetes, and other diseases.

Nourishing our bodies and staying healthy is of paramount importance to living a happy, fulfilled life. When our bodies are healthy, our minds are healthy and that helps us feel good about ourselves. Children deserve healthy, fresh foods and safe facilities for daily exercise.


852 million people suffer from malnutrition, most of them in Africa and Latin America. Even in rich industrialized countries around 10 million people do not get enough to eat. More than five million children die of malnutrition every year according to a current report issued by the FAO.


Heavy use of pesticides is associated with elevated cancer risks. According to the EPA, over 1 billion tons of pesticides are used in the U.S. every year.


Unsanitary conditions in factory farms and industrial slaughterhouses cause high levels of meat contamination that has resulted in recurrent epidemics of foodborne illness. In the U.S., foodborne illness sickens 76 million people, causes 325,000 hospitalizations, and kills 5,000 people every year.

Green Generations is invested in healthy nutritional practices. We believe that healthy, quality, and good tasting food should be available and affordable to everyone.
Our workshops offer children and parents knowledge about the food they’re eating and how to make easy and simple changes in their daily diet that is good for their bodies and for the planet.
